Forum On Threats to the Climate Movement

May 6 @ 12:00 am

Climate leadership forum

FreeportCAN is sponsoring a forum to discuss threats to the climate movement from this administration that are so severe they will impact everything we do. Johanna Blackman from A Climate to Thrive (ACTT) will lead a discussion on the current state of climate action, how we are feeling and processing our work in the context of this political nightmare and creating a vision for the future.

We feel a need to process this attempt by the Federal Government to remove all research on climate, all mention of climate action as a policy on climate leaders’ motivations and energy.  Questions we will pose include:

  • How has this crisis in the federal government affected our capacity to prioritize climate action? What are we seeing in our community regarding these two crises and how is it impacting forward momentum?
  • What do goals look like in climate action now?
  • What does climate leadership look like now?
  • What is needed within climate communication at this moment?
  • How are we feeling in our work as climate leaders and how can we sustain ourselves as climate leaders?
  • What is needed to support the answers to each of these questions?

This event is by invitation, and not open to the public.
