07 Mar FreeportCAN Applauds the Hiring of Sustainability Coordinator
The Town of Freeport is taking action to fight climate change!
The FreeportCAN Goverment Affairs Action Group advocated for the creation of this position with a letter campaign to the Freeport Town Council. The Town Council announced today the hiring of Meddy Smith as our new sustainability coordinator. Meddy will be filling the grant funded position of Sustainability Coordinator for which the Towns of Freeport and Yarmouth will share the full time position.
Meddy comes to us from the private sector where she has been working as a consultant on the development of municipal climate action plans in various locations in the US. Meddy will be joining our team full-time starting May 1st. In the meantime, you will see her at some Freeport Sustainability Advisory Board meetings and occasionally around town hall.
The Sustainability Coordinator will be intrinsic to the efforts of Freeport to reduce our contribution to climate change. Well done, Freeport!
