On March 28, at 6:30 at Meetinghouse Arts, FreeportCAN will bring you its second Climate Action Forum. Learn about local, state and international efforts to address the climate crisis, and the impact FreeportCAN has had in its first year.
In the year since FreeportCAN was launched we have been met with great enthusiasm and have had hundreds of Freeporters participating in and propelling our initiatives. This tells us that we are serving a role in helping our community find ways to act to address climate change. We’re excited to continue our work as we move forward, and we hope you’ll join us!

Learn the latest about Freeport’s Climate Action Plan, and how Freeport is being proactive to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and mitigate the effects of climate change.
Brian Ambrette
Senior Climate Resilience Coordinator
with the Governor’s Office of Policy Innovation
Administrator, Community Resilience Partnership
Brian will cover Maine’s progress implementation the state’s climate action plan, Maine Won’t Wait, as well as how communities in Maine are rising to the challenge of climate change in tangible ways. He will also discuss the state’s efforts to maximize once-in-a-generation federal investments via the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and Inflation Reduction Act.
Susana Hancock
International Climate Researcher and Policy Specialist
Susana will report on international climate actions, including the new IPCC report on global emissions and projections for the possibility of keeping global temperature rise at 1.5 C. She will help us understand what scientists are seeing for climate related events internationally, nationally and here in Maine, as well as insights on the town climate action plan.
